The Ocean Avenue Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

5 Things you should know about the Ocean Avenue PTO

#1 You are the PTO. All parents/guardians of Ocean Avenue students are members of the PTO. Membership is not based on dues, so welcome!

#2 What the PTO does. The PTO helps parents get engaged, involved and in-touch with what is happening at school. Each year the PTO supports a wide range of activities including field trips, community events and enrichment programs.

#3 Sign up for the PTO email list for information you’ll need and want. If it’s happening at school, there’s likely to be PTO emails about it. Sign up today!

#4 The PTO makes it easy to participate in your child’s education. The PTO gets you involved with informational meetings, volunteer opportunities and a place to share your opinion about what’s happening at school. Whether you can volunteer or just want to be an informed parent, the PTO is for you!

#5 The PTO website is full of useful parent information. You can find a schedule of events, newsletters, contact info for key people within the PTO and much more.

The Ocean Avenue PTO  sponsors and organizes a number of events and programs each year that help accomplish our mission of building relationships among families, educators and the community to promote the healthy development and academic achievement of every learner. Check here for the OAPTO contributions during the 2014-15 school year.

The PTO…

Provides enrichment – The PTO offers a variety of after school programs throughout the year.  Offerings include (but are not limited to) yoga, improv, art, and movement.  In addition, the PTO provides in-school educational opportunities for our students including African drumming, African dance, theater workshops and more.

Keeps You Informed – The PTO sends emails and newsletters containing important information about upcoming activities, event highlights and school news.  Sign up to receive these updates!

Brings People Together – School-wide events, after school clubs and events like the Bids4Kids annual auctionSpring Fair and Bike Rodeo, and MLK Day Celebration promote a sense of community among students, parents and teachers.

Makes it Easy to Engage
 – Positive parent involvement can improve children’s success in school – and it’s a fun way to get to know other OAES families. We ask that every OAES family commit to just three hours over the school year to support our children. No task is too small! Check out the opportunities to engage. There are plenty of ways to get involved with the PTO. Contact volunteer@oapto.org to learn more!
