Let’s Make Art with Erinn Conn
Grades K-5, Mondays 3:00-4:15pm
*$120 for 10 weeks
October 16th-December 18th
*Includes cost of art supplies

Let’s make art with an art history connection. Students will create projects inspired by history’s greatest artists including; Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and more.

Erinn Conn holds a BA in Studio Fine Arts as well as a K-12 Art Teaching Certification. She has worked as a commercial artist and public school art teacher in addition to creating art and teaching on a freelance basis. Improv, Theater and Performance Play with Andy MacDonald
Grades K-2, Tuesdays 3:00-4:00pm, October 17th – December 19th
Grades 3-5, Wednesdays 2:00-3:00pm, October 18th – December 20th (No class 11/23)
$100 for 10 weeks, $90 for 9 weeks

In this class, we will play theater and movement games, sing, tell stories, play with art materials and costumes, and learn how to create and cooperate together. All of our playing and creating will build up to a final performance at the end of the session.

Andy MacDonald has been performing and teaching improvisational theater and performance for over 20 years. He is a kind, empathetic and humorous teacher who connects people with their spontaneous creativity, in words, sound and motion. He is a certified facilitator with Turning The Wheel, a national arts education organization (turningthewheel.org). He has worked with people from ages 3 to 93, and performed with improvisational theater and dance groups across the United States, in Canada and in France. He taught French and Dramatic Literature at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Andy and his wife Circe live in Portland, and their daughter Phoebe is in second grade at Ocean Avenue Elementary School. He teaches French at the Language Exchange, and helps facilitate an All Ages Community Dance affiliated with Portland Community Dance.

MOVE with the Kids Movement Project by Jill McMahon
Grades K-2, Thursdays 3:00-4:00pm, October 19th-December 21st (No class 11/23)
$90 for 9 weeks

MOVE, offered by the Kids Movement Project, is a fusion of hip-hop dance/creative movement, yoga, high-energy games, breath work, boot camp and brain gym. This class is an active workout for your child’s growing body and developing brain!

Jill McMahon founded the Kids Movement Project in 2014 and recently co-founded the Rosemont Studio Collective on Danforth Street in Portland. She offers before and after school movement programs in Portland Public Schools, school-based residencies as well as yoga and dance classes at the studio, and a kids biking club. Jill believes that movement is essential for growing bodies, developing brains, and happy, healthy kids. She is passionate about teaching children and their caregivers about the endless benefits of daily physical exercise.

 

Hand Lettering with Erinn Conn
Grades 3-5, Fridays 3:00-4:00pm, October 19th-December 21st (No class 11/23)
$80 for 9 weeks

This class offers an introduction to typography along with lessons in cursive writing, which will give students the framework to create various styles of hand lettering. Students will also explore signatures and work on creating their own unique mark. By the end of the course the students will have ability to read and write modern cursive.

Yoga and Art with Aleksandra Townsend
Grades K-2, Fridays 3:00-4:00pm, October 13th-December 22nd (No class 11/24 & 12/10)
$90 for 9 weeks
Limited to 10 students

Join Aleksandra for yoga and art adventures! This class will include individual and group poses, games, breathing techniques and mindfulness activities. Students will also complete some meaningful and useful art creations to take home.

Aleksandra Townsend is the owner of Spiral Tree Yoga & Wellness Studio in Portland. She found yoga in 2001 during her first visit to Maine from Poland, and was instantly drawn to this transformative and healing practice. Aleksandra completed her kids yoga teacher training with ChildLight Yoga and has been teaching children in schools and at her studio for the past five years. In addition to an advanced yoga teaching certification, Aleksandra has a strong background and certification in Pilates and Ayurveda, and is a Usui Reiki Master.
