What we do

The Ocean Avenue PTO  sponsors and organizes a number of events and programs each year that help accomplish our mission of building relationships among families, educators and the community to promote the healthy development and academic achievement of every learner. To see some of the past events and programs check here for what we did during the 2014-15 school year. The PTO…

Keeps You Informed – The PTO creates and distributes weekly emails and monthly newsletters containing important information about upcoming activities, event highlights and school news.

Offers School Enrichment – The PTO offers a variety of after school programs throughout the year.  During the 2015-15 school year, we offered Yoga, Hip Hop, Art Making for Kids, Ukulele Club, Dolphin Press, and the Green Club.  In addition, the PTO provided in-school educational opportunities for our students including African Drumming, African Dance, Physical Theater Workshops and more.

Brings People Together – School-wide events, after school clubs and events like the Bids4Kids annual auction, Spring Fair and Bike Rodeo, and MLK Day Celebration promote a sense of community among students, parents and teachers.

Makes it Easy to Engage
 – Positive parent involvement can improve children’s success in school – and it’s a fun way to get to know other OAES families. We ask that every OAES family commit to just three hours over the school year to support our children. No task is too small! Check out the opportunities to engage. There are plenty of ways to get involved with the PTO. Contact volunteer@oapto.org to learn more!

Makes School Cool – Through various grant-writing and fundraising efforts, the PTO helps bring fun and enriching activities that fall outside of the school budget.

Encourages Creativity – The PTO provides funding for special school-related projects and/or curriculum support with resources and materials to further enhance the educational experience for our students.
